[[{“value”:”As promised, the first AFT AdventureTrackers race took place during the Sturgis TT. A total of nine motorcycles entered, with Triumph claiming the top two podium positions on the mixed surface track incorporating some streets of Sturgis.
Flat Track racers Dan Bromley on a Honda Africa Twin and Sammy Halbert on a Triumph Tiger 1200 started on the front row. It was a tight battle for the lead until the Honda briefly lost power, a glitch that allowed most of the field to pass and handed the win to Halbert. Teammate and five-time Enduro World Champion Iván Cervantes managed to work his Triumph Tiger 1200 past four-time Daytona 200 winner Danny Eslick’s Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250, rounding out the podium positions and giving Triumph a 1-2 finish.

“I’m stoked to take the win in the first-ever Sturgis TT AFT AdventureTrackers race,” said Sammy Halbert. “The Triumph Tiger 1200 was surprisingly easy to ride, especially in the dirt sections. No matter how hard I pushed it, the bike handled flawlessly. I’m proud to bring home this victory for the team at Triumph.”
Here are the full race results:

1st Place: Sammy Halbert – (Triumph)
2nd Place: Iván “TORITO” Cervantes – (Triumph)
3rd Place: Danny Eslick – (Harley-Davidson)
4th Place: Rob McLendon – (Triumph)
5th Place: Kole King – (Triumph)
6th Place: Frankie Garcia – (Harley-Davidson)
7th Place: Dan Bromley – (Honda)
8th Place: Ernie Vigil – (Triumph)
9th Place: Nick “Apex” Brocha – (Triumph)

It’s worth noting that while Triumph’s victory is quite an accomplishment, the deck was rather stacked in their favor, with six of the nine entries being Triumphs. Eleven models from nine manufacturers are allowed in AdventureTrackers, yet unfortunately, only three made an appearance in this race. American Flat Track has not yet announced plans for an ongoing series (though they have previously confirmed to me that this is their goal), so I can understand some hesitation by manufacturers to put in the effort for a one-off race. Hopefully, this will follow the lead of King of the Baggers, become a full series, and get more manufacturers involved to add more variety to the grid.
