Trans European Trail (TET) 2023 Sustainability Award

Date

The Trans Euro Trail® (TET) is a set of legal dirt roads through some of Europe’s most remote, diverse, and startlingly beautiful terrain. The route’s makeup is a result of influence from the US’s Trans American Trail (TAT). Volunteer organization So-called “Linesman” maintain the TET voluntarily; the TET relies on the off-roading community to find and manage the still-evolving network of TET tracks. Rather remarkably, the TET currently traverses 30 European countries traveling about 51,000 km (~31,689 miles). There are two arms of the TET; the East and West. TET Eastern Arm The Eastern route travels through Finland, the Baltic states, Poland, Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, and Bulgaria before looping to the Bosphorus in Turkey and then entering Greece and running up through the Balkans, across Italy, and into France. See a video clip below that shows you what to expect in Finland!   TET Western Arm The western arm travels through Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, the Low Countries, the UK, and France. After meeting in Southern France, the TET passes through Andorra, Portugal, and Spain. And the TET hopes to add Austria, Hungary, and Slovakia in the not-too-distant future. TET Sustainability Award 2023 The TET provides a vast assortment of terrain which requires maintenance. Many volunteers work to uphold the TET’s ethos of “Respect for the Trails, Respect for the Environment, and Respect for the Communities we travel through.” Recognizing this, the TET wants to acknowledge the individuals, groups, and organizations who help “… engaging, building, repairing, talking, planting, befriending, motivating and sharing – all for the continued benefit of our pastime, our environment, and their local areas and communities.” Nominating award candidates In concert with the folks at The Trail and Adventure Motorbike Podcast, who are hosting the TET’s search, the TET is asking you to nominate the person(s), or organization you believe deserves recognition for their efforts. You can place your nomination by going to the TET sustainability nomination link and providing a name and a short paragraph on why you think your nominee should be considered for the award. The TET will then produce a short list of persons/organizations they believe deserve recognition. Then they will ask you to choose the inaugural TET Sustainability Award winner. You may have to click through several pages before getting to the TET Sustainability nomination page. But it is worth it to ensure that the people you believe should be recognized have the chance. The closing date for nomintations is unclear. The post Trans European Trail (TET) 2023 Sustainability Award appeared first on Adventure Rider.
