For the seventh year, Backcountry Discovery Routes is holding a fundraiser holiday auction. You can bid on a wide variety of motorcycle trips and equipment, all while supporting the BDR program itself.
Some of the items up for bid involve unique BDR experiences. For example, not only can you be one of the first to ride the upcoming Black Hills (South Dakota) BDR-X, you’ll get to ride it with BDR Board President Tim James, route co-architect Michael Bielecki, and three other winners. What better way to experience this route for the first time? Numerous other trips are available, both BDR and not, including the Desert Adventure Rally in Arizona, a 10-day Baja Adventure Tour, and a nine-day tour of Columbia.
But trips aren’t the only prize packages available. You can bid on rider training with the likes of Jocelin Snow, Jimmy Lewis, and Dragoo Adventure Rider Training, among others. Bike rentals are available in Costa Rica, Columbia, and the New England BDR. Suspension, lighting, and seat upgrades are available, as well as tires of your choice from MotoZ and Shinko (hmm, I could use a set of 705s for my V-Strom…) Luggage, riding gear, and accessories from many major brands are all up for auction as well.
The bids on some of these auctions are already pretty high, potentially more than the items themselves (for example, the Shinko tires). It’s still worth bidding because that money goes directly toward supporting the BDR itself. It takes time and money to research new routes, as well as maintain the existing ones. Their GPS tracks are free to download because of support like this, not to mention the feature-length documentaries about the routes.
The BDR holiday auction is open until 12:00 pm Pacific time on December 22, 2022. Get your bids in now, take a chance on winning some cool stuff, and support a good cause.
