Recently we told you about some organizations that support off-highway-oriented concerns. Fox’s Trail Trust, Yamaha’s Outdoor Access Initiative, and Polaris’ T.R.A.I.L.S. program all offer grants to non-profit organizations working towards creating, maintaining, and improving trails and trail access in the U.S.
The Right Rider Access Fund (RRAF) is similar. It is a “…charitable, community-based organization created in 2011 to support off-highway vehicle enthusiasts directly by supplementing the work of the Motorcycle Industry Council, the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America, and the Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association.”
They work to combine the existing support of the power sports industry, taking contributions from businesses and individuals. And in the case of the RRAF, 100 percent of any contributions go to support off-highway vehicle enthusiasts “…to ensure they can safely and responsibly operate their OHVs and access riding areas.”
The latest organizations to receive grant funding from the RRAF is as follows:
Keweenaw ATV Club – Houghton and Keweenaw Counties, Michigan
The National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council – Vaughn, Montana
Quiet Warrior Racing – Oakley, California
Ride With Respect – Moab, Utah
Tread Lightly! – North Salt Lake, Utah
Wild Rivers Coast Mountain Bicycling Association – Gold Beach, Oregon
Organizations may submit their applications year-round. To participate, the application must come from a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization located in the U.S. Eligible organizations include but are not limited to OHV clubs, public riding areas (i.e., local, state, and federal), outdoor enthusiast associations, and land conservation organizations.
The grant money is out there. It would be a shame not to use the funds to help keep off-road access in the US alive for generations to come.
If your organization would like to apply for a grant, you can find the RRAF grant application form HERE.
