If you’ve been ADV traveling a while, you know it’s not always easy to find a convenient water carrier. Water bottles slip and fall trailside, if strapped to the outside of your luggage. Inside, they burst and break. You can carry water in a Camelbak or similar, but if you carry much, it weighs you down.
Giant Loop has heard your desperate cries for hydration help and now offers the Cactus Canteen Drinking Water Reservoir. There’s an inner water bladder surrounded by a tough outer shell, with MOLLE-style loops for easy attachment to your bike.
There’s a 1-gallon and a 2-gallon version, priced at $79 USD and $99 USD respectively. Not cheap, but they should be well-thought-out, high-quality kit. See the press release below:
Giant Loop’s Cactus Canteen Drinking Water Reservoir Defines Rugged Performance
Expedition Ready Potable Water Transport for Outdoor Adventures Featured in Gear Junkie’s SEMA “Best in Show”
(BEND, OR) Outdoor and powersports gear innovator Giant Loop’s new Cactus Canteen drinking water reservoirs safely transport essential hydration for outdoor adventures in rugged, flexible, collapsible containers built for the demands of off-road exploration. Available in 1- and 2-gallon capacities, the Cactus Canteen’s double layered construction protects a tough, food grade BPA-free water bladder inside of a highly abrasion-resistant outer shell that can be secured to motorcycles, UTVs and the exteriors of 4×4 and overland vehicles.
The Cactus Canteen’s quick-connect hose with valve dispenses water for washing or drinking, and the universal connector accepts many popular hydration accessories, such as a showerhead attachment. When not in use, the hose tucks inside a zippered opening to keep it clean. For filling and dispensing, the Cactus Canteen hangs from an adjustable strap, which also holds the empty water bag in a space-saving roll. The easy filling wide-mouth cap is compatible with many popular water filters.
High-visibility reflective daisy chains integrate with Giant Loop’s packing systems and other solid connections to securely anchor the Cactus Canteen to any vehicle without it sliding out from under straps. In keeping with Giant Loop “go light, go fast, go far” design approach, the Cactus Canteens weigh just ounces when empty, and they are backed by the company’s limited lifetime warranty.
The Cactus Canteen was recently recognized by Gear Junkie as one of 15 “Best in Show” products when previewed at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) automotive tradeshow last fall. The SEMA Show, with over 140,000 registered attendees, thousands of display vehicles, more than 1,800 vendors, and well over a million square feet of exhibits, is one of the largest tradeshows in the USA. “Building on its great line of soft fuel storage solutions for motos, UTVs, and 4x4s, Giant Loop has now developed a line of water storage containers,” writes Gear Junkie’s Bryon Dorr.
The 1-gallon (3.8-liter) Cactus Canteen (CC23-1G) weighs 9.3 ounces empty. When filled, it measures 11.5 inches in length, with a girth of 17 inches. Rolled, empty circumference is 13 inches. USA MSRP is $79.
The 2-gallon (7.6-liter) Cactus Canteen (CC23-2G) weighs 12.5 ounces empty. When filled, it measures 14 inches in length, with a girth of 21 inches. Rolled, empty circumference is 14 inches. USA MSRP is $99.
