Muddy Good Fun: Wildsville Scramble 2024!

Wildsville is a private “moto-fun-camp” in rural Georgia born from the moto-loving mind of our incredibly talented friend Chastin Brand, one of the country’s most highly esteemed hand-painters and pinstripers. Chastin and the Brand family have created one of the sweetest places on earth for people who love two wheels. Wildsville is an atmosphere and attitude as much as a place — a laid-back, vintage-forward Neverland where good times, family, and friendly competition go hand in hand. If you want the closest thing to On Any Sunday in 21st century America, this is the place.

In 2019, we covered the MX5000 hosted on the property, and in 2021 we attended the inaugural Wildsville Scramble — a 60s-style “brung what ya brung” event that includes flat track races, a vintage-style motocross course, and a gnarly cross-country / woods event complete with multiple creek crossings and slippy-slide grasstrack.

Last month we were back for the 2024 Wildsville Scramble, and we enlisted our good friend and photographer extraordinaire Drew Perlmutter to shoot the event.

The 2024 Wildsville Scramble was bigger and better than ever. Though the rain kept us off the red-dirt dance floor of the flat track, the rest of the racing went on as scheduled. Friday was racer registration, Saturday was race day, and Sunday was a free ride day. Here was the race day schedule:
Race Day Schedule

7:30-8:30am Registration
8:30am Off Road (MX/CC) Riders meeting
9am CC Vintage Race
10:15am MX Race Heat
12pm Lunch Break

3pm CC Post Vintage Race
4pm FT Registration
5pm FT Riders Meeting
5:45pm FT Practice
6pm FT Race

9:30pm-?? Live music, etc.

Below, we get an event report from Drew and lots of photos of the bikes, the racing, the people, and best of all, the muddy good fun of this weekend in the Georgia dirt.
Event Report: Drew Perlmutter
“Friday the gates opened and the rains came… Toy haulers started loading in, plenty got stuck with the mud. The flat track unfortunately became too saturated to use, but the MX course and woods course were looking plenty good and wet. Saturday morning the sun rose and the races were getting underway.” -Drew Perlmutter
Fearless leader Chastin Brand.

“Saturday morning started with the woods race. Over 4 miles of grass track, tight turns in the forest, river crossings, ravines, and much more. A great way to kick off this year’s events! The woods race ran for an hour+. It was definitely a test of endurance and machine. Every type of bike made its way through the twists, turns and eventually back out of the woods.” -Drew Perlmutter

“The scramble continued and by afternoon time the sun was out! Didn’t mean things were any drier though… Our MX course was good and slippery! From small bikes up to our adventure class, we had CB750s and Tiger 900s flying through the air! Vintage BSAs, a Matchless too made it around the course.”

“Huge thank you to every who showed up and raced! What a fun day to watch modern bikes fly, and vintage bikes slide across the farm.”

“Thank you to everyone who showed up, showed out, raced, partied, had fun, and all that!! This year was bigger and better than ever, and next year we look forward to it being even better than that.” -Wildsville
