Live in the US, and you want a Honda XR150L farm bike? Or maybe a lowered version of the CRF300 dual sport? Looks like you’ll be able to make your wish come true this year.
Once again, it’s the clever crew at Motorcycle.com behind this discovery, with Honda filing paperwork for the XR150L and CRF300LS models with the US Environmental Protection Agency and California Air Resources Board. MO’s Dennis Chung found that paperwork, and that means we know about these bikes long before we should have. Here’s what to expect from each:
Honda XR150L
A pretty familiar machine if you’ve traveled in Asia, Australia or New Zealand. In OZ and NZ, it’s a farm bike; a reliable plodder that you might use to check the fences around your cattle station. That means the bike has an emphasis on being easy to ride and maintain. It’s no motocrosser, as you can see by the image of Farmer John above! As New Zealand’s Honda distributor puts it:
The XR150 replaces the tried and tested XR125 and features a larger updated engine, with an offset crankshaft, roller rockers, a lighter piston and a redesigned oil cooling path to further increase reliability.
The XR150 is reliable, with low maintenance and also has a comfortable seat, modern dash, great styling and a powerful headlight. If you are looking for a durable, lightweight and nimble 2-wheel farm bike, look no further.
The $4,940 NZD MSRP would translate to about $3,100 USD, which should give you a rough idea of what price tag to expect in our market.
Honda CRF300LS
Not a performance version of the CRF300L, sadly. The S almost certainly refers to “Short,” since the emissions profile is the same as the standard 300, as MO points out.
Expect pricing more-or-less in line with the current Honda 300 in this case!
