Harley-Davidson Riding Academy Reaches One-Million Mark

[[{“value”:”The Harley-Davidson Riding Academy is celebrating a major milestone. This summer, the training program has hit the one-million-riders-trained mark.
That’s a big number, but you need to remember that Harley-Davidson has been doing this a long time. The program started under the name Riders Edge, back in 2000—Bill Clinton was still president. The economy was balls-to-the-wall, minus the brief unpleasantry of the dot-com crash. And people were hot to buy Harley-Davidsons. Someone in the Motor Company headquarters realized it wasn’t just enough to sell bikes; they had to think long-term and help create new riders. Thus began the training program that is now almost 25 years old.
The name change to current Riding Academy branding came in 2013. Since its debut, the program has expanded to include not just beginner motorcycle training, but also three-wheeled vehicle training, adventure riding training, and other skills and techniques for intermediate-level riders as well. In most of the states it operates, completing the Riding Academy will earn the graduate a motorcycle endorsement on their driver’s license.
H-D’s program currently operates out of more than 225 dealers in 43 states, with 1,500 riding coaches that are MSF-certified. It’s the largest rider training network in the US.
If you want to learn more about the ADV-specific program, check out the Riding Academy’s website here. It’s a bring-your-own bike program, with no previous off-road experience required. Other inmates’ experience with the program can be found here, but remember that thread is now 11 years old—expect some changes in the years since those comments were written.
