FortNine Tests Tire Sealant, Passes The Torch To A New Host (Sort Of)

The FortNine YouTube channel just dropped a new product testing video, and there are two big takeaways. First, the F9 team recommends Sahara Tire Sealant. Second… there’s an F9 team?
The sealant
Above, see the scientific approach to this test, comparing Ride-On, Slime and Sahara tire sealant products. You can watch the whole thing, but if you’re in a hurry, the FortNine team recommends the Sahara sealant because it’s non-toxic, cleans up fairly easily and quickly, and resists punctures well. While the other products outperformed in specific areas of the test, Sahara did the best across the board.
Of course, ADVrider’s forum has already been arguing about tire sealants for years (see proof here), and plenty of inmates have their own opinions. But it’s pretty interesting to see an actual experiment put together that properly shows the sealant’s properties in action! That’s been FortNine’s schtick over the years, though—clever demonstration of motorcycle mechanical principles, often using applied physics, thanks to host RyanF9’s background in science. Speaking of which…
The new host
Uh, that’s a new guy hosting the show this time. If you’ve been paying attention, that should be no surprise. This was Ryan’s show for years, but in recent months (particularly since videographer Aneesh Shivanekar left), we’ve seen new faces popping up, and some other changes. And this time, the episode ends with Ryan passing the torch on to the new guy, sort of. Looks like Mechanic #43 will be doing gear testing, for now.

That’s good news for those who liked Ryan’s work—no word on exactly what changes are ahead for the channel, but Ryan’s sticking around, and maybe focusing more on the video essays that so many riders like. We’ll see.
