Here’s everything you need to know about Suzuki’s GSX-R1000R.Editor’s note: We last test rode the GSX-R1000R during the 2021 Suzuki GSX-R1000R MC Commute Review article and video. This superbike was originally redesigned for the 2017 model year (read the First Ride Review: 2017 Suzuki GSX-R1000R article). It differs from the traditional GSX-R1000 with the use of this up-spec Showa fork and Showa shock with full damping adjustment. We have right around five inches of suspension travel front and rear. We also have these LED insight running lights, launch control, and these stainless steel brake lines. This motorcycle is powered by Suzuki’s tried-and-true 999cc inline-four engine; water-cooled with dual overhead camshafts and a 16-valve cylinder head. The engine’s good for right around 170 hp at the business end under that Bridgestone Battlax RS-11 rear tire. The engine drinks from a 4.2-gallon fuel tank and weighs 445 pounds fully fueled.Electronics wise, we have 10-way-adjustable traction control, combined engine and throttle power mode adjustment, ABS, launch control, and a really slick up-and-down electronic quickshifter. We also have triple disc hydraulic brakes with Brembo radial mount calipers and a single-piston, single-disc brake setup out back. We’ll see you in the next episode.
