About a decade ago, Cleveland Cyclewerks was one of the more interesting made-in-China motorcycle brands in North America. Most of its machines were based around the trusty CG125-based air-cooled single-cylinder, and CCW put effort into make bikes that were aesthetically pleasing. Although probably best-known for its hardtail choppers (sigh), CCW did sell some fun 250cc standards and cafe racers, and even some larger 450cc dual sports and supermotos later on.
Oh yeah, and they were also one of the first American outfits to dabble with the idea of an affordable electric motorcycle. While Lightning and Zero and the rest were selling battery bikes with big price tags, CCW did bring out a couple of early electric motorcycles with humble specs, and a price tag to match. And now, it’s back with more. Sort of.
CCW founder Scott Colosimo has split the electric division of the company off, rebooting under the name LAND. Now, LAND is offering two motorcycles to the US market: the District and the District Scrambler.
Both bikes are built in the street tracker style, and both are very stripped-down. They appear to consist of little more than a central case that contains the quick-swap battery and some other electronics, and a frame, wheels and seat. There’s a set of Shinko GoldenBoy on the District Scrambler, but like the District, it comes with 17-inch cast wheels front and rear and a Fox EVOL adjustable shock.
Depending what ride mode you’re in, the LAND electric motorcycles can be restricted to wimpy ebike/moped speeds, or go 70 mph and faster. It seems a 2.1 kWh battery pack is base model configuration, good for up to 40 miles of range, but that can be extended to up to 120 miles, depending which pack you buy. All bikes come with an 11.5 kW motor that makes the equivalent of 23 hp, and 200 lb-ft of torque.

For a closer look at each model, see the LAND District here, and the LAND District Scrambler here. MSRP starts at $7,800 US for the District Scrambler, and $8,200 for the District.
