This 1972 Harley-Davidson XLH1000 Sportster is said to have been kept in longterm storage prior to the seller’s acquisition in 2024. It is powered by a 997cc OHV V-twin mated to a four-speed transmission, and equipment includes a dual exhaust system, an electric starter, a two-tone two-up seat, a rear satchel, and a side stand. This XLH1000 is offered at no reserve with a clean Michigan title in the seller’s name.
The bike is finished in green with white and black accents, and white pinstriping has been added to the fuel tank. Features include a black and white vinyl two-up seat, a rear satchel, a chrome passenger grab bar, mid foot controls, turn signals, and a side stand. The seller notes rust on some of the hardware.
Wire-spoke wheels measuring 19″ up front and 18″ out back are mounted with older Goodyear tires that the seller says should be replaced prior to regular use. Suspension consists of a conventional fork as well as dual shocks mounted to the swingarm. braking is from drums at both ends.
The chrome buckhorn-style handlebar carries black grips and chrome mirrors. Instrumentation consists of a 150-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and a five-digit odometer showing 19k miles, a handful of which have been ridden by the seller.
The air-cooled 997cc Ironhead OHV V-twin features a chrome dual exhaust system, an electric starter, and a chrome “ham can” air cleaner cover. The fluids were changed and the battery replaced in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheel through a multi-disc wet clutch, a four-speed transmission, and a drive chain. The seller notes that the clutch is in need of adjustment.
