The 2024 Yamaha Ténéré 700 is an affordable real adventure bike that’s engineered for true 50/50 on- and off-road escapades. Its rugged steel frame, grip-finding suspension, and true off-road wheel combo make it highly capable in the dirt, while the upright riding position and slim cockpit offer adequate comfort over long distances. Think of it as a big, road-going dirt bike. Here’s everything you need to know about Yamaha’s ‘24 Ténéré 700 middleweight ADV.Editor’s note: Read and watch our reviews of this new motorcycle during the 2024 Yamaha Ténéré 700 Review. Also check out the previous model during the 2021 Yamaha Ténéré 700 MC Commute Review. This motorcycle arrived in the Americas for the 2020 model year. It’s powered by Yamaha tried-and-true 689cc CP2 parallel twin which is good for 64 hp and 43 lb.-ft. torque to the business end of the 18-inch rear wheel. The engine drinks from a 4.2-gallon fuel tank and delivers 43 mpg.It uses an 8.3-inch-travel inverted KYB fork with full damping adjustment and these handy bleed screws atop the fork just like a real dirt bike. At the rear, KYB shock offers nearly eight inches suspension travel with a linkage and a handy hydraulic preload adjuster so riders can adjust the ride height. There is also rebound damping adjustment. It typically rolls on Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires but this time we have Dunlop’s more meaty Rally Raid tires which are DOT-legal but feature a more chucky, off-road-friendly design. It employs a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel combo. With a full tank of gas this motorcycle weighs 452 pounds. It also has a nice 5-inch color TFT display, which is really handy and which you can now pair to your IOS- or Android-powered smartphone. In this configuration, it wears a couple of nice accessories including a Rally Raid seat ($219.99), which is ideal for us tall guys; crashbars ($329.99), in case someone has an accident; and a $199.99 GYTR electronic quickshifter, which affords full-throttle upshifts. This bike retails for $10,799 without accessories.
