[[{“value”:”The MoCo has unveiled its latest Milwaukee creation, but this one’s not a motorcycle. Davidson Park, located just south of H-D’s 3700 W. Juneau Avenue building, is a new multi-use facility that includes an amphitheater, parks, a bar, and a place for the new Harley-Davidson Factory Racing Headquarters.
The park’s conception began in 2021 at a summit in partnership with the non-profit Near West Side Partners. Key community needs were identified, like having a safe green space that supports health, well-being, art, and culture, as well as a space for youth to play. The design was created in partnership between the Harley-Davidson Foundation and acclaimed designers Heatherwick Studio.
The heart of Davidson Park is the Hub, a 272-feet-wide amphitheater with tiered seating. The Hub is set among plants and trees and was built with 10 types of locally sourced brick, natural timber, and weathered steel. In the center of the Hub is the Foundation Stone designed by local artist and Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design student Megan Huss.

Viewing Hills are located adjacent to the southwest portion of the Hub and serve as overlooks to the Hub during special events. The Viewing Hills are also home to 100 species of perennials and 20 species of trees.
Main Street is the main pedestrian path through the Park and will serve as space for farmers’ markets, craft fairs, and food trucks. It will connect the Hub, playground, community lawn, picnic knoll, serenity garden, and viewing lawns.
When you build up a thirst, stop in at the new 1903 Tavern developed in partnership with Molson Coors. It will serve an assortment of canned beverages, including beer, malt, seltzers, and non-alcoholic drinks in a relaxed open-air environment.
Union Plaza, located off West Highland Boulevard, is approximately 11,000 square feet and will host temporary markets, food trucks, and events. It’s home to a 10-foot-tall weathered steel sculpture inspired by Harley-Davidson’s bar-and-shield icon.
The North and South Lawns serve as places for relaxation and community events. The North Lawn, 7,600 square feet in size, is surrounded by plants. The South Lawn, 5,750 square feet, is a picnic knoll with picnic benches for family lunches, social gatherings, and more.
The Little Legends Playground, located in the southern portion of the park and about 6,000 square feet in size, is a play area for kids ages 1-12. It includes wooden log climbers, steppingstones, and hillside climbing.
The Potawatomi Serenity Garden, designed in close collaboration with the Forest County Potawatomi leaders, reflects the geometry of the medicine wheel, which is a significant symbol for many Native American tribes, including the Potawatomi. Medicinal plants including tobacco, cedar, sage, and sweetgrass are located in the garden, and the garden is welcome to all for contemplation and reflection.
In addition to Davidson Park, Harley-Davidson in Milwaukee is working on two more developments: a STEAM Lab and the Harley-Davidson Factory Racing Headquarters. The STEAM Lab will partner with local organizations and schools to provide students with resources, receive mentoring from H-D employees, experience hands-on learning, and encourage career exploration in STEAM fields. The Racing HQ will offer visitors a behind-the-scenes look at MoCo’s racing history and its current efforts.
