The DR650 tractors on, one year closer to three decades of constant production. (Suzuki/)And when we say no changes, we mean absolutely nothing. Suzuki didn’t even bother to update the DR650 with “bold new graphics” this year, which means the two color options (white or black) found on last year’s models (and the year before that) are set to enter their third tour of duty. The gray and orange color accents return for a third year as well. (Suzuki/)In fact, while nearly every single part on the DR remains completely interchangeable with the bikes first sold in 1996 (many of which are still running and in the used motorcycles market), the only thing to actually change for 2025 is the price. Suzuki confirmed that MSRP for the big-bore thumper has increased by a modest $100 for the third consecutive year in a row, meaning the big single will now retail for $7,199.Related: Cycle World’s Original 1996 Road Test of the DR650But, hey, that’s the way we like it. Every year that Suzuki keeps the DR650 around completely and utterly unchanged is another year in the bank for factory support, parts availability, and aftermarket continuity for the untold thousands of DRs that are still out on the road.So while our hearts go out to our fellow riders in Australia who lost the beloved bush pig in 2021 due to ABS/emissions requirements, this announcement is cause for celebration in the US. Having recently parted ways with a 2003 DR650 myself (after nine years of problem-free abuse), I can confirm that despite a few decades of technological advancements, the DR650 remains a benchmark for value, versatility, and go-anywhere capability. Thanks Suzuki. Don’t ever change. The DR650 does have an important milestone coming up: 2026 will mark the 30th year of uninterrupted production for the big DR, and we’re (respectfully) begging Suzuki to bring back the original purple and yellow livery to mark the occasion. Yamaha pulled a similar stunt for the 50th anniversary of the YZ250 in 2024, so we know the demand is there.2025 Suzuki DR650S Technical Specifications and Price
