Welcome one and all to ADVrider’s Photos of the Week. We begin today with a shot submitted by @Neil_The_Wheel, who says he and a friend spent “over a week camping, hiking, and riding motorcycles in the Valley of Fire State Park, in southeast Nevada in early March of 2024.” We like the clarity of this shot and the sense of travel that it conveys so easily. The background scenery of Fire State Park also grabs our attention. Neil_The_Wheel sent in three photos, so here are the others.
Valley of Fire is aptly named and riding through the technicolored rock formations in the morning or evening light was a magical experience.
@Neil_The_Wheel and buddy were riding a 2021 Honda CRF 300 Rallty and a Honda CRF 300 L.
Idaho idyll
@HoraceWill sent some images from a “beautiful day east of Boise, Idaho, along Arrowrock Reservoir, past Irish Point to Cottonwood Creek Road.” He was on a 2023 KTM 390 Adventure.
The dirt road was in pretty good shape considering all the rain and snow we had in March. This was a short “scouting” trip, looking for possible motorcycle camping spots later in the spring, and dirt roads to practice riding with a full load-out, anticipating an IDBDR trip later this summer.
Scenic route
Here’s a shot from @Kwatali1972, who was on his Yamaha XT 660Z Ténéré in “elephant country north of Nxai Pan National Park” in Botswana, “on a cutline called the 19’20 parallel running west east to the Zimbabwean border.”
Thick sand, extreme heat and elephants, etc. This is the scenic route from Maun to Victoria Falls.

Editor @Kawazacky sent us some images after taking a ride on a Yamaha. “Got the ‘new-to-me’ Super Ténéré out for a ride this week.”
These shots are all from Charlotte County, NB. Pretty chilly, but with snow coming later this week (we got a dumping today), had to take advantage of a break in the precipitory onslaught we’ve had so far this spring!
Still pretty quiet on the wharves; lobster season isn’t running full bore yet.
And we’ll end with one last shot from @Kawazacky, a picture that seems made-to-measure for the tail end of a story.
