SX Global has announced six events for the 2023 FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX). The series returns to Australia, moves its British event from Cardiff to Birmingham, and adds another four events to the schedule as well. This follows through on its promise of a true worldwide series in 2023.
July 1: British Grand Prix, Villa Park, Birmingham
July 22: French Grand Prix, Groupama Stadium, Lyon-Décines
September 30: Asian Grand Prix, location to be announced
October 14: German Grand Prix, Merkur Spiel Arena, Dusseldorf
October 28: Canadian Grand Prix, BC Place, Vancouver
November 24-25: Australian Grand Prix, Marvel Stadium, Melbourne
The 2022 series held only two events Wales and Australia, despite intentions to hold more. SX Global is now calling these “pilot events.”
“Our pilot season was designed to test what is possible and prove that the sport of supercross has strong demand from fans in previously underserved countries across the world,” said SX Global CEO, Adam Bailey in a press release. “The incredible fan response and attendance for events in Cardiff and Melbourne reinforced that our instincts were indeed correct, and we are now powered by strong momentum and interest from cities, promoters, broadcasters and sponsors all wanting to be part of the new global championship. We are excited to continue to showcase this incredible sport to fans across the globe.”
The WSX website still lists the same teams and riders as the 2022 events. There are sure to be some changes here and there. We’ll keep you posted on who’s riding for which team, as well as information on how to watch the series in North America once WSX releases that information.
