For 2023, Moto Guzzi has rolled out the new V9 Bobber Special Edition. (Moto Guzzi/)Moto Guzzi stayed relatively quiet in the lead-up to the 2022 EICMA show, choosing to highlight the new models already introduced earlier this year, such as the V100 Mandello and the V7 Stone Special Edition. But there was one fresh model the brand rolled out for the show: the V9 Bobber Special Edition, a refined but mostly cosmetic take on MG’s current V9 Bobber. The Special Edition is based on the stock V9 Bobber, but it’s primarily a cosmetic treatment, with no mechanical changes. (Moto Guzzi/)There’s no fiddling around with function of the base V9 Bobber on this particular version; the V9 Bobber Special Edition is still built around the transverse 853cc V-twin derived from the V85 TT, running 16-inch wheels mounted with chunky tires, low bars, and a stripped-down, postwar feel enhanced by blacked-out parts. The treatment on the new bike is mostly cosmetic. Guzzi calls the new V9 Bobber’s special two-tone black and gray color scheme a “nocturnal look,” but to be fair, there’s a little new equipment packed onto the Special Edition as well. The metal teardrop fuel tank, for example, features a billet aluminum cap, while the aluminum side panels are now highlighted in their raw glory. We also see new bar-end mirrors perched at the handlebar, along with addition of gaiters to cover the 40mm fork. A shorter front fender completes the treatment.Related: 2021 Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber and V9 Roamer First LookNew darker two-tone paint scheme is the main attraction, with aluminum parts providing contrast and a more refined look. (Moto Guzzi/)Guzzi is also quick to point out that there’s a new street-legal slip-on exhaust as part of the equipment on the V9 Bobber Special Edition, which the press release says is meant to highlight the “unmistakable sound of the Moto Guzzi 850 twin-cylinder.” That pipe is painted matte black, with unpainted aluminum tips offering contrast. There’s no indication that the new pipe adds any kind of performance benefits, as does the V7 Stone Special Edition’s Arrow exhaust, released earlier this year. The V9 Bobber Special Edition also features a new street-legal slip-on muffler, painted black. (Moto Guzzi/)At press time, Guzzi had not indicated pricing or availability for the new 203 V9 Bobber Special Edition, but we expect those details to be announced shortly.
